Road infrastructure damage in rural areas remains a serious problem that directly impacts community safety and mobility. In Nagari Batagak, Sungai Pua Sub-district, Agam District, the main village road is severely damaged, steep, and winding, resulting in frequent accidents and risks to local residents. This study aims to examine how local leadership and communication strategies can address infrastructure issues in the context of limited village funding. Using a qualitative case study approach, the research focuses on the initiative taken by the Village Head who implemented an environmental communication strategy through community meetings. Interpersonal communication and open forums were employed by the RT Chairman to build collective awareness and mobilize community contributions for road repairs. The findings reveal increased active community participation in independently improving the environment. This study highlights the effectiveness of participatory and context-specific communication strategies in tackling environmental and infrastructure challenges in resource-limited rural settings.
