Manuscript Types

Jurnal Salingka Nagari (JSN) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scholarly journal published by Universitas Negeri Padang, Indonesia. The journal is dedicated to disseminating original research, scholarly developments, and academic contributions in economics, education, business, accounting, social sciences, office administration, cooperative studies, and related disciplines.

The journal welcomes manuscripts addressing theoretical and practical issues, educational innovations, research-based solutions, and community development at local, national, and international levels.

In accordance with its Focus and Scope and Author Guidelines, Jurnal Salingka Nagari accepts the following types of manuscripts:

1. Original Research Article

An original research article presents new findings, empirical evidence, or theoretical developments that make a meaningful contribution to knowledge within the journal's scope.

Research articles may employ quantitative, qualitative, mixed-methods, experimental, survey-based, case study, or other appropriate research approaches. The selected methodology must be consistent with the research objectives and supported by sound academic reasoning.

Manuscripts may address topics such as economics, business, accounting, social sciences, educational innovation, teaching and learning strategies, educational evaluation, office administration, cooperative studies, and community development.

Each research article must clearly demonstrate its research problem, objectives, methodological approach, findings, discussion, and contribution to existing knowledge.

Recommended Structure:

  • Introduction

  • Research Methods

  • Results and Discussion (with appropriate subheadings)

  • Conclusion

  • Acknowledgments (if applicable)

2. Literature Review

A literature review article provides a critical and structured examination of existing scholarly literature concerning a particular topic within the journal's scope.

The review should offer more than a descriptive summary of previous studies. It must critically analyze and synthesize relevant findings, identify theoretical or methodological developments, examine inconsistencies or debates, and highlight research gaps or opportunities for further investigation.

Literature reviews may adopt systematic, scoping, integrative, bibliometric, or other academically appropriate review approaches, provided that the review process is clearly explained and the conclusions are supported by relevant scholarly evidence.

Review articles should contribute to a deeper understanding of the selected topic and provide meaningful implications for future research, educational practice, institutional development, or policy.

3. General Requirements for All Manuscript Types

All manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Salingka Nagari must comply with the journal's editorial policies and Author Guidelines.

a. Originality and Submission

Manuscripts must present original scholarly work, must not have been previously published, and must not be under consideration for publication by another journal or publisher.

All listed authors must have approved the manuscript and agreed to its submission.

b. Language

Manuscripts must be written in a clear, formal, and academically appropriate language consistent with the journal's applicable manuscript template and Author Guidelines.

Authors must ensure grammatical accuracy, clarity of expression, and consistent use of academic terminology.

c. Title and Author Information

The manuscript must include a concise and informative title, the full names of the authors, institutional affiliations, and the contact details of the corresponding author.

d. Abstract

The abstract must contain no more than 200 words.

It should provide a concise overview of the research objectives, methodological approach, principal findings, and main conclusions or scholarly contributions.

Undefined abbreviations and unnecessary references should be avoided.

e. Keywords

Keywords should accurately represent the main concepts, subject matter, and research focus of the manuscript.

Authors must follow the requirements specified in the journal's manuscript template.

f. Manuscript Formatting

Manuscripts must be prepared in Microsoft Word format (.doc or .docx).

The manuscript should use a clear, readable font and consistent formatting in accordance with the journal's Author Guidelines and applicable manuscript template.

Headings and subheadings should be organized systematically, with no more than three displayed heading levels.

Tables, figures, and equations must be properly numbered, labelled, and referred to in the manuscript.

g. Citation and References

Jurnal Salingka Nagari follows the American Psychological Association (APA) 6th edition referencing style.

In-text citations must use the author–date system, and the reference list must be arranged alphabetically by the surname of the first author.

Only sources cited in the manuscript should be included in the reference list.

Authors are encouraged to use relevant and up-to-date scholarly references, particularly literature published within the previous five to ten years, where appropriate.

The use of reference management software such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote is recommended.

h. Research Ethics and Academic Integrity

All manuscripts must comply with the journal's publication ethics standards.

Plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, inappropriate duplication of publications, and other forms of research misconduct are prohibited.

Research involving human participants or other ethically sensitive matters must comply with applicable ethical requirements.

i. Permissions and Copyright

Authors are responsible for obtaining the necessary permissions to reproduce copyrighted material, including previously published tables, figures, illustrations, and substantial text excerpts.

Evidence of permission must be provided when required.

j. Manuscript Template and Author Guidelines

All manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the journal's official manuscript template and submission requirements.

4. Editorial Screening and Manuscript Eligibility

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial assessment to determine their suitability for consideration by Jurnal Salingka Nagari.

The editorial team may assess the manuscript's relevance to the journal's scope, originality, scholarly contribution, methodological quality, compliance with ethical standards, and adherence to submission requirements.

Manuscripts that fall outside the journal's scope, do not correspond to the accepted manuscript types, or fail to meet essential formatting and submission requirements may be returned to the authors for revision or declined before entering the peer review process.

Manuscripts that satisfy the initial editorial requirements may proceed to peer review in accordance with the journal's established editorial procedures.

 

Author Guidelines

Writing system follows the American Psychological Association (APA) 6th and note this following guidelines
1. Type of Paper

  • Research Article: Articles that report novel empirical findings or theoretical developments.
  • Literature Review: Articles that capture the state-of-the-art in a newly emerging or rapidly progressing research area, and provide an overview of the most relevant literature and the major theoretical implications.
  1. Manuscript Submission
  • Manuscript Type: Submission of a manuscript implies that the work described has not been published before; that it is not under consideration for publication anywhere else; that its publication has been approved by all co-authors, if any, as well as by the responsible authorities – tacitly or explicitly – at the institute where the work has been carried out. The publisher will not be held legally responsible should there be any claims for compensation.
  • Permission: Authors wishing to include figures, tables, or text passages that have already been published elsewhere are required to obtain permission from the copyright owner(s) for both the print and online format and to include evidence that such permission has been granted when submitting their papers. Any material received without such evidence will be assumed to originate from the authors.
  1. Title Page

    The title page should include:

  • The name(s) of the author(s)
  • A concise and informative title
  • The affiliation(s) and address(es) of the author(s)
  • The e-mail address, telephone and fax numbers of the corresponding author
  1. Abstract

    Please provide an abstract of maximun to 200 words. The abstract should  not contain any undefined abbreviations or unspecified references.

  1. Text Formatting

    Manuscripts should be submitted in Word.

  • Use a normal, plain font (e.g., 10-point Times New Roman) for text.
  • Use italics for emphasis.
  • Use the automatic page numbering function to number the pages.
  • Do not use field functions.
  • Use tab stops or other commands for indents, not the space bar.
  • Use the table function, not spreadsheets, to make tables.
  • Use the equation editor or MathType for equations.
  • Save your file in docx format (Word 2007 or higher) or doc format (older Word versions).
  1. Headings

    Please use no more than three levels of displayed headings.

  1. Abbreviations

    Abbreviations should be defined at first mention and used consistently thereafter.

  1. Acknowledgments

    Acknowledgments of people, grants, funds, etc. should be placed in a separate section on the title page. The names of funding organizations should be written in full.

  1. Citation

Cite references in the text by name and year in parentheses. Some examples:

  • Negotiation research spans many disciplines (Thompson, 1990).
  • This effect has been widely studied (Abbott 1991; Barakat et al. 1995; Kelso and Smith 1998; Medvec et al. 1999).
  1. Reference List

     The list of references should only include works that are cited in the text and that have been published or accepted for publication. Personal communications and unpublished works should only be mentioned in the text. Do not use footnotes or endnotes as a substitute for a reference list.Referencelist entries should be alphabetized by the last names of the first author of each work.

  • Journal names and book titles should be italicized.

We suggest all of you using software ENDNOTE, MENDELEY, ZOTERO, or EASYBIB for easily citation. References should be the most recent and pertinent literature available (about 5-10 years ago). Authors must also carefully follow APA6th Publication Manual guidelines for nondiscriminatory language regarding gender, sexual orientation, racial and ethnic identity, disabilities, and age.

  1. Tables
  • All tables are to be numbered using Arabic numerals.
  • Tables should always be cited in text in consecutive numerical order.
  • For each table, please supply a table caption (title) explaining the components of the table.
  • Identify any previously published material by giving the original source in the form of a reference at the end of the table caption.
  • Footnotes to tables should be indicated by superscript lower-case letters (or asterisks for significance values and other statistical data) and included beneath the table body.
